深沉的爱使丈夫不顾亲朋好友及医生的反对，带海勒来到中国。
2000年4月4日，海勒住进泰美宝法肿瘤医院，我亲自给她诊疗，首先给她做了全面的查体，查体结果是：卡氏评分（Karnofsky功能状态评分标准）50分，腹水征（＋）。超声检查（B超）显示，肝左叶见4cm×4cm肿块，肝右叶见5cm×5cm及3cm×3cm两个肿块。腹水细胞学检查，找到癌细胞。

2012年3月3日，我在济南肿瘤医院正忙着，突然北京协和医学院的陆莉娜老师来电：“保法，国务院安成信副秘书长正在济南军区总医院做64排的计算机断层扫描（CT），今天下午他可能找您会诊。他患肝癌已经一年了，现在肝区疼痛。”我当时没当个事儿，心想：这么大的官，找我看病的少，现在还在大医院检查着，一般不会来我医院吧。
