Dillon Craig was confused when the cat in his arms began to move at the neck – he had never held a purring (发出呼噜声的) cat before.

当Dillon Craig怀里的猫开始在“蹭蹭”他的时候，他有点困惑——Dillon Craig从来没有抱过一只会发出呼噜声的猫!

Kristi Cooney, the president of Good Sense Dogs, was there to explain to the 18-year-old that it just meant the cat was happy.

“Good Sense Dogs”的董事长Kristi Cooney给他解释——猫咪发出呼噜声，意味着这只猫很开心呀！

Craig, like most of the kids Cooney works with, had limited experience with animals before taking Ahead with Tails classes, a program by Good Sense Dogs. The program is meant to help students develop kindness toward animals.

Craig和Cooney项目里大多数孩子一样——在参加“Good Sense Dogs”开设的“Ahead with Tails”课程之前，对动物的认知有限。这个项目旨在培养学生对小动物的爱心。

Cooney has been leading Ahead with Tails for nearly three years, providing youth with the opportunity to take care of animals and develop vocational (职业的) skills by training dogs.

Cooney负责“Ahead with Tails”项目已经有近三年的时间了。这个项目是通过训练狗狗，为年轻人提供照顾动物以及学习职业技能的机会。

Cooney hopes that students can extend (扩展) the skills they’ve developed in the program to human relationships as well.

Cooney希望学生能够将他们在项目中学到的东西，灵活扩展到他们的人际关系中去。

Cooney said she realized that by bringing animals to youth, she might be able to foster (培养) students’ compassion (同情心) and ability to put themselves in others’ shoes.

Cooney说，她意识到让青少年亲近动物，或许能够培养他们的同情心和共情能力。（一起做一个柔软又可爱的人吧！）
