1. stand someone up

意为“放某人鸽子”。

We were scheduled to go out for a movie tonight, but he stood me up again because his roommates invited him to a bar. 

我们原本说好了今晚要去看电影的，不过他又放我鸽子了，因为他的室友邀请他去酒吧玩。

2. blow someone off

意为“放鸽子，爽约”。

We were supposed to meet for dinner last weekend, but she blew me off. She said she had to go shopping for a new phone – can you believe that? 

我们上周原本应该一起吃顿晚饭的，但是她却放我鸽子。她说她必须去买部新手机，你信吗？

3. be a no-show

No-show意为“未按约定到场者，未如约出席者”，所以be a no-show意为“爽约”。

I don’t even bother inviting her to parties anymore because she’s always a no-show. 

我甚至都懒得邀请她参加聚会了，因为她总是爽约。

4. beg off

意为“爽约”。

Sorry, I have an important meeting, so I’ll have to beg off. 

不好意思，我有个非常重要的会议，所以我得爽约了。

5. flake out (on sb)

意为“放（某人）鸽子，爽约”。

– Are you coming to the party tonight?

– I’m not sure. I might flake out. I’m feeling a bit tired.

— 你今晚会来参加派对吗？

— 不确定，我可能会爽约。我感觉有点累了。

I can’t believe she flaked outon us at the last minute and didn’t show up to the party.
