A decade ago, when asked about popular pastimes, many people would say going to KTV or amusement parks. However, young people now spend their free time at health clubs, or getting tuina (推拿), or even foot massage to experience traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practices, such as acupuncture (针灸) and moxibustion (艾灸). 要说十年前流行的娱乐活动，很多人会提到KTV或游乐园。现在有很多年轻人喜欢在休息时间去“养生馆”，体验推拿、足底按摩、针灸、艾灸等传统中医疗法。

When faced with the choice between Western medicine and TCM, young people often prefer TCM therapies “due to its efficacy (功效)” for these diseases, according to Ma. “Some people criticize TCM for its lack of quantifiable (可量化的) and standardized methods. However, treatments based on syndrome differentiation (辨症论治) are one of TCM’s main appeals as it can be a more accurate and tailored medical method for different patients,” Ma added. 马医生说，相较于西医，年轻人往往更喜欢中医疗法，“因为它对这些疾病有功效”。“有些人批评中医缺乏可量化和标准化的方法。然而，辨证论治是中医的主要诉求之一，因为它可以为不同的患者提供更准确、更有针对性的医疗方法。”
